Kaplan students can start at any level. Here’s a breakdown of how the course is structured and how quickly you can expect to advance your English skills if you enter at an Intermediate level.
*Please note that ten weeks per level is just a guide to average progress rates on an Intensive English course. We cannot guarantee an exact period of study over which specific language goals can be attained. The below examples should be taken as a guideline only.
Our Intensive English course, designed to accelerate your learning, consists of 28 lessons a week. 20 of those lessons will focus on the core skills such as reading, writing, listening and speaking, and for 8 specific skills lessons you will choose from a selection of topics such as Local Culture, Current A airs, Film Studies, and Business English, amongst others. Partake in K +clubs Study Groups where you’ll discuss a range of topics in teacher-led study sessions.
Gain confidence speaking English by having conversations with your teacher and other students. Find out what mistakes you usually make and why you make them. Focus on key grammatical areas, and learn useful words and phrases to help you better express yourself in common situations.
Start noticing the things you have been learning in class all around you throughout your daily life. Feel more confident with your writing and pick up more detail in conversations you listen to. Read, write, and talk about familiar topics, and start to master all of the elements of your starting level.
Welcome to the next level! Most students will advance to a new language level within 10 weeks. Learn to express yourself in a variety of ways, gain competence in grammar, and easily partake in most conversations on both simple and complex topics.
Continue learning English and benefit from our specific skills lessons, where you can tailor your program to meet your specific learning needs. After Kaplan, I’m going back to university in Japan to start preparing for my thesis and I’d like to get a job where I could use my new English skills.
